The good news, though, is that by planning for the future and investing in a life insurance policy with Stanbury Life Plus now, you can help ensure your dependents have adequate funds when you are no longer around to care for them.
With Stanbury Life Plus, your premiums are dependent on your lifestyle, and you have the option to increase your life cover through simple, healthy living, while your premium stays the same.
Stanbury Life Plus offers additional benefits
Various premium options available from level premium, increased premium or all premiums back after 15 claim free years.

As an added benefit to your already comprehensive cover, Stanbury Life Plus also includes dread disease cover. A dread disease is a condition that significantly impacts lifestyle and longevity, incurs high costs, and/or causes significant morbidity.
Serious illnesses covered under Stanbury Life Plus:

How is your life cover, dread disease, and occupational disability dependent on your lifestyle?
The healthier you live, the lower your premium. Stanbury Life Plus calculates your premium based on various lifestyle indicators. Your health depends significantly on your lifestyle, and maintaining good physical and mental health is crucial to your longevity. The more attention you give to hygiene, physical fitness, and diet regulation, the healthier your lifestyle will be. A lifestyle indicator is used to assess your overall lifestyle.
What Lifestyle Indicators will be applicable to you for Stanbury Life Plus?
- Age
- Qualification
- Cholesterol Level
- Body Mass Index
- Blood Pressure
- Liver Function
- HIV/AIDS
- Smoker/Non-smoker
Age
One of the main Lifestyle Indicators is age. The older you are, the more at risk you are, and the higher your premium payments will be. Your age also directly affects whether or not you can obtain life insurance. To qualify for a Stanbury Life Plus policy, the member must be between the ages of 15 and 65 at inception.
Qualifications
Research shows that people with higher education levels tend to claim less. The following levels of qualification will be considered when determining your premium and cover amount:
- 4-year Degree
- 3-year Degree
- Matric/Grade 12
- Grade 10/Standard 8
Body Mass Index (BMI)
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat percentage based on an individual’s weight and height. BMI is calculated by dividing the body mass by the square of the height.
BMI provides a simple numeric measure of a person’s thickness or thinness. A BMI of 18.5 to 25 is typically considered optimal. A BMI below 18.5 suggests underweight, while above 25 indicates overweight. A BMI over 30 is considered obese (over 40 is morbid obesity).
Cholesterol
Cholesterol is a substance produced by the liver and found in certain foods. While it is necessary for the body to produce vitamins and hormones, a high level can be unhealthy, leading to heart disease.
Blood Pressure
Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of blood vessels. It is produced by the heart’s pumping action. Each heartbeat produces either systolic (maximum) or diastolic (minimum) pressure.
Liver Function
The liver filters and digests nutrients in the blood. Liver function is tested to determine how well the liver is working. A test measures the extent of any damage or its efficiency for preventive measures.
HIV/AIDS
HIV/AIDS is a significant health issue in Namibia, where the prevalence rate is high. Our non-discriminatory policy provides cover for individuals living with HIV. Benefits related to HIV/AIDS deaths are scaled over 36 months, with full payouts for deaths occurring after this period.
Smoking
Smoking remains a major risk factor for serious illnesses, including lung cancer. Even if you eat healthy and exercise, smoking puts you at risk.
